Wimbledon Final, it's two sets all, Federer and Murray. Some disaster happens. Federer won the first two sets 6-0 6-1 Andy has fought back 6-7 6-7 in two thrilling tie breaks. Federer is declared the winner 24-15 on games won ……….? Right …………. that'll go down well with gin and tonics.
Points Per Game is the only vaguely sensible way to decide a season once it has reached its end without resolution. It will show which were the best and worst teams over that amount of time. But that doesn't make it fair or right. Equally a football league season reaches an end. Games cannot be completed by any date even close to the season's natural end. The season is crying out to be declared void. Every other level of football in the country has been declared void. Why should the top bits be any different? It is one game, different as Jersey Bulls may seem from Leeds United.
Devongone, I respect different opinions but I'm firmly in Ska'd 's camp here, in that IMO as - what, 90% of the season has been played, that would seem to be a good yardstick of a team's abilities.
(League 2 clubs have accepted the season is over, and also the positions which have been projected.)
And I'm not just saying that because of our league position, and it would end up with us swapping with Villa!
