There is, on the other hand, every chance that those behind the scenes at the opposition also know the fact, and use it to gee up their players. I've seen at least one ex-pro say that word goes around a dressing room when your club has a hoodoo over another, and you feel it's on you to keep that going at whatever cost. It's a psychological boost.
