You could see things in the Hibs side that had obviously been coached, particularly movement on the wings. There's no reason we couldn't do the same except that we've just not been coached in that sense properly. At all, some would say.

McCoist's legacy is a set of players (I shy away from saying 'team') bereft of direction and confidence in themselves, their fellow players and the 'system' they are meant to be using, if there is one at all.

The only way it'll change is with a new coaching team to instill some of the simple basics of the game -

• Closing down the opposition properly.
  
• Defending as a unit (instead of a mish-mash of rag-tag out-of-position panic-merchants.)
  
• Holding a higher defensive line to make the midfield a more compact area.
  
• Quickness of thought when in possession.
  

It's simply baffling to me that these obvious and fairly simple issues have not come under any focus from our management team so far.
