Feels like a defeat, we handled Rotherhams thru the middle approach by being disciplined across the middle ourselves and when we got it wide, we looked like we could hurt them. Great break and cross by Scanz for JV to prod us in front. We didnt do much else 1st half so please to take that lead into HT.
When Holt limped off and in truth he'd done very little , failed to jump/cpmpete for any headers and had no joy on the deck, there was a few boos and disgruntled sounds when Foxtrot Oscar got stripped instead of Nahki, pushing Bunn up front to go 442. However, Gobern did ok, got in some tackles and simple passing, set up Coady's power header which he enjoyed in front of the 2609. Stadium started to empty (was never sold out must have been a ploy by RUFC to stop town fans trying for tickets) jingles bells tried to get going then by which time we had sunk so deep we failed to close down a centre, their sub outjumped our central defenders and it was game on. Few seconds later they ram home a loose ball edge of box, may have took a deflection and 3 vital points had gone south.
M1 south horrendous south of J 28 with snow blizzards and down to 2 lanes then 1 on the M42 so still waiting to see the sky goals re-run at this point.
We are in a relegation scrap without any doubt, just too soft an underbelly and lacking that killer instinct to kill off a game up front, without new blood we will hovver around the bottom 6 right to the death. We've lost 5 points maybe 3 if you're being kind in the past week against poorer teams in the league, very worried about Sundays game v an improving Bolton who had the edge on us a few weeks back.
I'm sure there's lots more to come from a fully fit JV and Wells put himself about when he came on late and confident he will find the net sooner or later, but CP has a lot of work to do to keep us out of the doodoo. Holt's knee will likely keep him out of his last game so he returns with our thanks but cannot see him returning financially and under a new manager in Wigan so we must make the most of what he have up top.
