I wasnt planning to schlepp up the M1 for this tonight but my lad who is just about to commence his travels wanted to get his last game till Xmas in, so agreed.
Make no mistake, Lincoln deserved the win cos they came with a game plan, were compact, lively and courageous backed by perhaps 800 or more who supported them well. They should have had a 2nd but it was clawed off the line.
Town were awful for all but 25 mins late in each half. Really disappointed to say the only ones coming out of this well were Schofield for his shot stopping, certainly not his kicking which is woeful, Edmonds Green will have learnt a few things marking Akinde, Bacuna who was poor had our best & only first half efforts from distance, I guess he's started the season so poorly he can only benefit from game time to try and find that missing form. The 2 full backs Jaden Brown and Brockhurst nothing to write home about, Koroma;s touch not great, Reece Brown hardly noticed him, Chalobah wanted way too much time, Mbenza dreadful nowhere near a start. Kachunga as skipper give me a break, Stinkovich over worked but did ok at centre half. Mounie had a header wide late on and appeals for a pen turned down by which time we were desperate for owt.
In fact VLP got the loudest cheer for coming on and looked lively ( I;m no fan of Mr Wantawaytobetterthings) but he deserves to be in and around the team for Friday for his work this evening. We didnt have the same level of effort or fight and certainly lacked physical presence, never took anyone on, poor crossing and general lack of urgency.
I'd say just about everyone left, vented their displeasure at FT and I;m not suprised Seaweed didnt come out till 10.45 for a brief press conference once Radio Weeds had gone off air leaving Oggy in the tunnel waiting. Personally I;d have intercepted their manager Cowley and sounded him out cos Martin from Wakefield is skippering a one man ship at the moment, his crew arent with him and more of this and the mood of the support will just let rip.
I'll give him to middle of next week, 2 losses v Fulham and the Druids and the Mega Bus can take him back to Wakefield or wherever he lives.
