I’m looking forward to seeing how you guys get on against Hamburger SV today. I have a soft spot for HSV so I’ve been following their pre-season and they’ve been very good going forward in their 433 formation but are lacking defensively because of how high they have to play under Hecking and today have a young centre back, David, in with Van Drongelen who is also still young so there will be holes and chances to be had.

1-0 to Huddersfield at half time.
Hamburg dominating the match and possession but lacking in the final third. Hudders are defending well enough but have been cut open a couple of times. Also got a good pressing system in place; press when HSV have the ball in defence and drop off when the ball goes in midfield.
HSV’s 4141 is very fluid with lots of midfield movement and the two wingers, Jairo on the right and Kittel on the left are playing high and wide and really stretching the play. Huddersfield have to be compact to limit the space in the middle of the pitch for Fein, Hunt and Özcan but it’s leaving wide space for the wingers to drift into and one of HSV’s best chances came from that compactness working against Huddersfield. Couple of passes starting from the goalkeeper and Kittel was through at pace on the left wing.
