I think we are all agreed that the only way for Levi Amantchi, or any young player, to succeed in the first team is to give him some games.
Like Saltergate I support the idea of a Development Squad but Like him I believe that once a player has shown he has reached the threshold of a regular place in the team then you are never going to know how he will fare until he has a few games behind him. When you deny players a chance or limit them to very brief cameos as sub' they sometimes go backwards (like Ricky German?). And at that point management all too often congratulates itself on its self-proving philosophy - "we didn't think he was quite good enough and now that he's stopped improving, that'll free up another contract."
