Thank you for that insight, I have learnt something new today, however I still feel like the Rainbow has been taken over by a movement that I have no problem with and actually feel like its one of those classic, "we'll do what we want moments". I am confusing myself slightly about what I'm trying to say really! What does it matter what or who you are, as long as you don't hurt or offend people! I just don't understand why a beautiful neutral symbol needs to be hijacked and it's future use by myself, leaves me feeling slightly on show for absolutely no reason!
As I say I am not homophobic and would actively encourage my children to be happy with themselves, however they end up. I just don't understand why there has to be a mass outing to get acknowledgement or recognition! I like woman so what, you men out there may like other men so what! Why does everything have to be highlighted and thrusted upon us, if I was gay, I wouldn't want to continually announce it to the world, life is already going to be slightly harder for you, why make it harder??
I appreciate everybody has an opinion and respect those, thankfully we live in a democracy and the fear of "stonewall" is or shouldn't be an issue. On a sidenote, I read on the BBC about those 2 young ladies on a London bus who were beaten up for refusing to kiss! This is disgusting and the guilty parties should be hung by the metaphorical balls and taught a lesson!
I don't know why I'm writing this but seeing the Rainbow flag lately has annoyed me, when asked by my children 6 & 8 respectively, why are there lots of Rainbow flags around Daddy, I like those in Birmingham schools lately, don't want to talk about my son about his sexuality at a tender age, his world is tough enough without this added pressure. It's good to have a portal like this where speaking your mind in an adult way will not be vilified, rant over, where's the medicine cabinet
