It was always a strange choice, putting him in charge of a promotion-chasing club with a decent budget.  His only real promotion successes were Gillingham in the 90s and Stoke in 08; he's a firefighter, not a swashbuckler.  I listened to their game on the radio at the weekend, and there was such a sense of deja vu hearing the commentators ask, at 2-0 down, why Boro were still sitting back and relinquishing possession: "have they given up?"

It's annoying enough when it happens in mid-table or a relegation battle, but when you're going for promotion it must be downright embarrassing.

Blimey Ska'd, what's so bad in your world that you have to listen to a MIDDLESBROUGH game on the radio??  

Tony says he's staying he is not going to walk away - unless he gets another fat severance pay cheque.
Apparently he has an equally large bonus if he gets promoted - it's a win win fior him.
