It's annoying enough when it happens in mid-table or a relegation battle, but when you're going for promotion it must be downright embarrassing.

Tony says he's staying he is not going to walk away - unless he gets another fat severance pay cheque.
Apparently he has an equally large bonus if he gets promoted - it's a win win fior him.
