In America even in college football they really go for it and have cheerleaders, marching bands and mascots and stadiums which look like they should be in the Championship or Premier League.
Maybe St Charles can answer this. Do the colleges own the stadiums? and is it only students who play for these teams?
Yes most of the colleges own their own stadiums. College Football (the US version) is huge over here, the stadiums are massive, Michigan’s stadium holds 110,000 ad there are many more with 60k+ capacities. Every player is a college student as well, they can play football for 5 years maximum at college level though they can only actually play for 4 of those years. The best players will then go into the NFL via the NFL draft, where the NFL teams take turns to pick the best players depending on their needs. College revenues are also huge, the University of Texas’ football team had revenues of $215m (165m pounds) in 2017 and there are over 30 colleges with revenues over 100m from their football teams alone. In most states the college football teams are often bigger than the NFL teams.
