This was a strange game in some ways!! A 3-0 win for the home team usually means a fairly dominating performance but in reality there wasn't a lot between the teams on the day. Both teams have very shaky defences, and both would have conceded goals against better teams. The total difference between the sides was the quality of the forwards - Rooney and RVP shone bright today, Sterling and Balotelli failed miserably!! Sterling in particular showed he is a winger, not a striker, and missed at least 4 grat opportunities, especially the one in the second half where he delayed hitting the ball!! Balotelli should have scored three goals in the second half and a combination of bad misses and great goalkeeping kept him out.

You say Liverpool were not a two man team last season, I would argue thats exactly what they were, it was the Suarez and Sturridge show and as they scored first most of the time the other teams had to attack and that just left more space for the most clinical duo the Prem has seen in many years!! Had Sturridge played today, then I think Liverpool may even have won that game!!

Just to add, Gerrard obviously isn't the player he was but he can still play an important part for them this season. The problem is due to their lack of confidence or ability in midfield, too much is expected of him every game, and Gerrard being Gerrard will continue too get well forward exposing the defence!!
