Ive read a lot grumbling about Liverpool not buying World Class players the reason for their slump, tell you what when Liverpool were the Kings of Europe they never bought World class players they developed them-Daglish, Barnes, Kennedy, Beardsley, Lawrenson etc all became the finished articles on moving there others like Rush, Hansen were really brought through from much smaller clubs.
Can, Markovic and the recent set of buys have the ability to be really good, why should Liverpool pay 50M for a striker, Suarez was an established player in the Erdeviste but other top European teams were hardly snapping their hands off to get him and not every top scorer in that league has had the success of van Nistelrooy in the EPL
Liverpool were an impressive second last year, possibly the best looking partnership up front since Rush/Daglish or at least Aldridge/Beardsley and yet if I was to go on talent i`d pick Litmanen/Fowler ahead of Suarez/Sturridge but there you go
S and S were remarkable last year and even as a Utd fan bloody brilliant but two players do not make a team, just because Suraez at Barca and Sturridge injured its not the only reason for the crappola season. Gerrard the legend of Anfield has blown hot and cold, new players havent settled, Skrtel who was almost Baresi last year has gone back to being pants, Mignolet has been found out great shot stopper but nervous as hell and glued to his line, Henderson the engine room deployed on the wing (shades of Daglish management) a supposedly very tired Sterling.
I think they`ll turn it around but its their turn to have the season we did last year by the look of it
