If we hadn't changed managers quite so often in recent seasons I might feel differently about this whole thing. I think the recent sackings have given us the opportunity either to stick with Mr Allen, or come up with a very decent-looking replacement. So now is the time to ask ourselves the question.
At some point you have to do what's right. We certainly didn't do that with Danny Wilson, and then we gave another favourite in Jack Lester a pretty awful job with potentially disastrous consequences for him. And the less said about the Partick months between those two decisions the better.
The right thing to do by Mr Allen has to be to stick by him if he still wants to stick by us. Deep down I think it should only be possible to change manager mid-season on genuinely compassionate grounds or death.
I don't see how loyalty and commitment can ever exist within a club, if the club and its fans are prepared to shrug them off like a cheap Matalan top.
