I think it’s premature to contemplate removing him. We are after all still in 4th but improvements and changes have to be made. This is Darren’s toughest moment yet at the club and, after being given a fairly easy ride so far because of who he is, he now has to see the light.

The defence has been a big issue for us this season. It is strange considering how we defended in his 6 matches last season but now he is persisting with a style that our centre backs cannot play. I want to see us pass the ball around the back and the midfield but we really over do it at times and it is costing us.

Going forward he needs to go to a back four, stop the risks that our defenders take, defend a bit deeper and more compact, play a mobile midfield 2, 2 fast wingers who can support their full back, a creative 10 and a lone striker. Pass the ball around but don’t over do it with the defenders. If Darren wants to continue with the same style including how our defenders play then he needs to play a 4141 shape. The two full backs push up the pitch, the centre backs split towards the touch line and the holding midfielder (Barry) drops into the centre to get on the ball and bring it forward. The two centre midfielders ahead (Livermore and Morrison/Hoolahan) can then receive the ball and look to drive or play it forward.
