In my opinion, any big changes need to be for our away matches. At home we can steamroll teams so there’s not much changing to be done other than our centre backs being more careful with the ball and better organisation at set-pieces.
Away though is where Big Dave has to earn his money. I like seeing us going away and attacking the poorer teams but there are matches where we have to have a plan B and be more conservative with our formation and tactics. It’s those matches against our promotion rivals and top 12 teams where I’d like to see us change to a 4411, defend deeper and play on the counter-attack through our wingers and number 10. It’s what served Big Dave well in 5 of his 6 matches last season.
I don’t think Big Dave will do that because he has his goal for this season of attacking football but I think that plan B would suit us well in those matches.
