Turns out I`m not the only one who thinks (eventually) it didn`t make any sort of sense.
I agree with you, Dancing. How the hell are they going to distinguish between a Salford supporter and a Spireite? (Apart from the possibility, given the size of their crowds, that the stewards are on first-name terms with all their fans. Possible, but not likely.) There isn`t that much difference between a North Derbyshire accent and a Mancunian and in view of this announcement I`m sure nobody is going to be daft enough to try and get into the home section wearing CFC colours.
And what about me? I live in Leicestershire, can show documentation to prove it and have lived and worked all over the country for the last 40 years so have no discernible local accent - in fact, I can put on a very convincing Cockney accent if I have to. How are they going to identify me as a CFC follower? Should be interesting.
