Last season Ebbsfleet were unlucky to lose out to Tranmere in the play-offs. It looks as though they might have improved their team (on paper at least and on the pitch by the sound of Berry's travails). That makes it a good win. It also sounds as though we defended well rather than desperately to keep the clean sheet, which is also encouraging. MA was v. dissatisfied first half, which is also good. Sounds as though he'll improve us!
I'd wondered about not-using a sub keeper with only five on the bench and MA did it! Has anyone ever seen any figures on how often a sub keeper is actually used. It tends to be pretty rare, because you are just brought up not to go off, because at lower levels you ARE the only decent keeper on the books ...... so it normally has to be quite an injury to take the keeper off the field. But if your replacement keeper is as poor as Joe Anyon, maybe rolling the dice is a better option.
We'll now see how Aldershot travel on Tuesday night. They're obviously organised and capable from their Barnet performance and will be another difficult test for MA's side. Saturday will be interesting, because Braintree will be a different kind of opponent. Even if they lose again on Tuesday they won't come under pressure like us, they'll chirrup that they're just a pub team from Essex and take what comes. And it's precisely that attitude that got them up. Dartford and a few others would have rated themselves above Braintree but ........... and they'll be relying on that but to keep them up this season.
Well done Dancing for going. As for Ebbsfleet, now they know the result I bet their manager is wishing he pushed Cheek in up front with Kedwell.
