In the wide position I’d also be worried if we go in to the season with only Phillips, Burke and Leko. Burke and Leko are still young and raw whilst Phillips always goes through highs and lows. I’d feel more confident if we signed a replacement for McLean if he chooses to leave. If McLean stays then we may be adequate.

I'm a bit ambivalent about Livermore. Pre BD, I'd have accepted a free transfer but since then he seems to have performed and we've glimpsed a footballer somewhere in there. Having said that, I'd take £15 million for him and invest in a more creative, running midfielder since I feel we have, in Field and Yacob, players who would do a similar role to Livermore. Don't ask me to identify a creative midfielder though since everybody wants one of those. I'm still holding out for re-signing Mulumbu
