There comes a point when you have to just accept the inevitability of it all and its not over yet. We will struggle next season and that's a fact. We could even go down again.
An owner that doesn't seem to care, a schizophrenic director who veers from Mr Nice to Mr Nasty, a manager who isn't good enough, players on long contracts who are just not worthy of the term footballers and a totally alienated fan base. Need I go any further?
This day has been a long time coming, the writing has been on the wall since they gave Caldwell and Branston this years budget. An attempt to get the fans on board with the appointment of Lester has backfired big style. He was the wrong appointment - fact. A few good results gave us all a glimmer of hope but then we reverted to our old ways. In the last 18months I witnessed some of the worst performances imaginable from my team, the team I support, the team I love. The fact I am sat here tonight totally non-plussed not ranting and raving after a few drinks says it all.
Chesterfield were in the Football League 150 years last year, how did our directors see fit to celebrate it? A black tie Gala Dinner at Chatsworth bloody house for directors and sponsors and anybody else with £100 to spare. For the rest of the fans - diddly squat, not even a friendly football fixture.
Well lets see how this season gets celebrated now. Next Saturday should be interesting.
Charles, the Sheffield connection reference is the fact that Carson, Allen and Turner are Dee Dahs as far as Chesterfield fans are concerned. They left Hillsborough in a cloud and just pushed it a few miles down the road onto our doorstep. The sooner we are rid of them the better.
I still care Dancing but its so xxxx hard, it feels like we are watching a car crash in slow motion, you know what's coming and its hard to get yourself prepared for it because I think the worse is yet to come. I think a lot of fans are still in shock over being relegated from the Football League and its going to be a while to come to terms with it.
The 150 years was Chesterfield's anniversary of it existing. We've been in the Football League for 97 years, didn't even make it to 100. I thought we were meant to be playing Rangers to celebrate the 150 years of existing? and there was talk of wearing a special kit as well.
