This whole case has had a big effect on Jay's life and, knowing football fans, he'll get stick ever after from opposing fans. There are 3 (4) Match Officials out there, and they were oblivious to any namecalling, therefore the "offence" should have been ditched at 5 o'clock that day.

Unless lip-readers are to study CCTVs up and down the High Streets, namecalling will go on forever. A bloke I know has been called "Fat B***tard" for years whenever he gets involved in conflict. What's the difference? James McClean takes merciless stick every time he's within range of opposition fans, and no doubt gets verbal abuse on the pitch as well.
Namecalling is hardly in the same league as having your ankle broken. So, unless the Match Officials see or hear incidents that are provocative the incident s/b closed. It's a bloody game, and tempers get stretched. People like Bong s/b mercilessly booed every time he gets the ball - see how he likes it - the poof.
