Caldwell always blamed someone else. That's what did for me.
He never seemed to get that it wasn't that the players were incapable of understanding a system, but that the system didn't actually suit them. And then he was incredibly stubborn - he'd recruited the young loanees and he was never gonna recognise they would never make him a team!
Mostly though I'm happy with giving managers time. Over time most of those with impressive records regress to the mean, and many of the unsuccessful ones improve their win ration. It's just that with Jack I can't see the green shoots. I thought recruiting Dodds was going to be part of improving our goals for total, but he has barely had the chance to settle in, even when not injured. And I'd have expected some sign of added solidity at the back and in midfield ........ and none of those things have happened.
