You've good memory if you can remember Caldwell giving German a chance. He NEVER started under Caldwell. He has only started once. And his record suggests he's a starter not a bencher IF he's any longer anything at all. Unfortunately when Danny gave him a chance I think he came under the influence of that thug Morgan and committed fouls all over the park which was never his game in the juniors. He knew how to lead a line but not be a thug. Apparently he pulled Coalville's defence around on Saturday and made a goal ........... but he was certainly capable of that two years ago. That's the tragedy, we run these players head first into a glass ceiling. Certainly Caldwell put Wakefield on the field and he did well. But that team was terminal and it was and always is the young lad that pays with Chesterfield.

As I've repeated ad infinitum German scored 11 goals in under 3 weeks. Caldwell didn't even reward him with a place on the bench. That was the beginning of the end for Ricky in my opinion. He was sending a message that he was ready. The response was no one was listening despite the worst team we've ever had taking the field each week .......
