Blue, there are no ifs. We are on our way down and next season wont be pretty because of the players still in contract.
I thought Lester was the wrong man and I also said last year we would go down if we started the season with Caldwell in charge. I was right and it really pains me to say it. I will also say that next season we will struggle to compete and will finish in the bottom half of the National League. There is a cancer in our club and until we rid ourselves of it we will continue to rot.
Mansfield will send us down and we will finish bottom. That sentence says it all.
This is going to take some recovery and god knows what will happen next.
I agree 100% with Dev, we have a youth team we have a youth structure and it stops when they get a pro contract we just throw our home grown talent away or destroy any confidence it had by bad management. At least Wilson brought some of them through and gave them a chance.
Lester and Wright have made it obvious they cant motivate players and the players themselves should have been up for yesterday. Its a sorry state of affairs but unless we have a massive clearout we will fail again.
Lester has to shoulder the blame and should do the honourable thing but he wont. We cant afford to get rid of another manager as we are still paying others off so we are stuck with what we have for the foreseeable future.
So what do we have to look forward to? Errm let me see now. Crowds of 2K, reduced budgets, loss of sponsors and advertising revenue, loss of our youth set up, the closure of the North Stand, a stadium that will slowly start to decay because of lack of funds to keep it maintained etc etc.
Most important will be the loss of future younger generations of supporters who instead of buying Town shirts will turn to Sheffield or Derby or Nottingham or god help us Mansfield. Kids want to support winners - its what kids do. Why be ridiculed by your mates at school? Support a club that knows what its doing instead of one slowly rotting to death.
These really are sad sad days.
