Who would everyone play on the wing?

5 main other options

Sess wide: no, much better centrally and Irvine wouldn't start him there

Samaras: not seen much but worth a try

Varela: great record but surely not even making the bench for a reason ( what's happened with injuries? so unclear)

Blanco: seemed ok in his bits maybe worthwhile.

Gamboa: doesn't see himself as a winger and doesn't take his man on enough imo but good delivery and pace.

So I'd probably have Samaras left and Varela on the right (can he play there?). Samaras has a decent chance of a start soon imo (since he has actually made the bench) but the other 4 look unlikely.

I think, THINK. I'd be tempted by Sessegnon wide. Firstly, I agree that he is (or can be) effective in the wide role. He is our only pace though, and someone like Dorrans (although been poor lately) or even Brunt / Berahino / Samaras could play behind the striker just to make some decent passes, either to the top man, or out wide. I'd go Gamboa behind Sess then and scare the living daylights out of them. That's a very risk strategy though, and I very much doubt we would go for it.

It's going to have to be Varela and / Or Blanco.
