Matt ,you mean close results like 0-3 Scunthorpe, 0-5 Wycombe ,1-4 Accrington,1-4 Sheff U ,2-5 Peterborough,0-3 Rochdale 1-3 Millwall,1-3 Northampton ?
These results were in the space of a few months .
Charles you're stating the obvious with Paul Cook ,all town fans cry themselves to sleep over losing him .

Under Caldwell we lost 4-1 Newport, 4-2 Bradford, 4-1 Sheffield Wednesday, 3-1 Grimsby, 5-1 Crewe that was in the space of 1 month!!

What you guys are really missing is Paul Cook!!  He was plucked from relative obscurity, had a 45% win ration with you, got you promoted to League 1 and then had you in the play offs the following season before jumping ship to Pompey.  Since then you have seen three managers who have struggled to varying degrees.  Saunders was on a hiding to nothing following Cook, Wilson for me is a journeyman manager who hops off and on the old school managers merry go round and Caldwell was a disaster throughout.  Of course you aren't going to get Cook back but maybe Lester is in the same mould as a virtual unknown who given time and resources could get the ship turned around.  Just might be too late for this year and if thats the case it will take a strong club to keep him for next season, yet that might be the best option.

Paul Cook was a great manager and if he was given the budget and kept the squad together he would have took us up to the Championship the season after we made the playoffs.

Saunders started the season off well in the first 2 months and it look promising and then it seemed to go wrong.

Wilson steadied the ship and kept us in L1 and then when he tried to rebuild he struggled with a small budget.

Caldwell signed the wrong players and kept playing 3-5-2 every match and it didn't work.

I think Lester will get it right he just needs time.
