West Brom are bracing themselves for a mass exit of players if they drop down to the Championship, with Northern Ireland defender Jonny Evans, 30, England goalkeeper Ben Foster, 34, English defender Craig Dawson, 27, and England striker Jay Rodriguez, 28, all attracting interest from other clubs.
I can see a rash of transfer requests from the players once their existing salaries are cut in half.
I agree Silver although I would be surprised if Ben Foster, Brunty or Mozza actively look for a move. I believe they are loyal Albion men as displayed by Brunty’s dressing room outburst after the Huddersfield game. The same can’t be said for Barry, Evans, Livermore, Gibbs etc and the jury is out on the others. Our loanees would of course be in their taxis. It will be a time for re-building and the first block in the build should be Dan Ashworth followed by a new exciting Head Coach.
Having a clear-out of the players infected with the Pulis disease wouldn’t be a bad thing as the whole club has to be sanitised of his effect and influence before we can move forward.
In many ways the buck stops at Jeremy Peace’s door as he was the one who started the rot that puts us in the position we now find ourselves and that was Peace’s decision to appoint Pulis.
My views on that appointment are known and well recorded. Perhaps with the benefit of hindsight, we should have stuck with Steve Clarke who’s dismissal on performance grounds was nothing compared to that of Pulis and Pardew.
