Jens Keller is my favourite coach in European football. He spent 2 years at Schalke where he took them to 4th and then 3rd and to the Round of 16 in Champions League. His last job was at Union Berlin who I watched live in Berlin 5 weeks ago. He took them to their highest ever finish of 4th last season in the German 2nd division and they were lead leaders for a couple of weeks in the final run-in. He was stupidly sacked in December with Union again in 4th and only a few points from the automatic promotion places. The stupidity of the decision has been compounded by his replacement, Andre Hofschneider, taking them in the table closer to the relegation places than promotion places with regard to points as they sit in 7th. Union Berlin will regret the decision in the long term.
His teams play in a balanced 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3 formation. Effective mixed football and intelligent pressing game. 2 banks of 4 when out of possession and passing football when in possession. He also favours young players and he brought through Max Meyer, Sead Kolasinac, Leon Goretzka and Leroy Sane through at Schalke.
Rene Weiler
Rene Weiler is a Swiss Coach who is known for his winning the Belgian title with Anderlecht last season. Before that he was at Nürnberg in the German 2nd division where he led them to 3rd place but they lost the promotion/relegation play-off to Eintracht Frankfurt. Before that he was at Aarau in Switzerland who he took from the second division into the top division.
His teams play in a 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 based around a free-flowing possession game with good pressing out of possession.
Both would be ambitious appointments to get the club back into the Premier League playing an attractive brand of effective football. For that reason I don't think they will happen either.
