Sportsmail can disclose that Claudio Yacob joined Brunt in criticising Pardew after the manager had defended his selections, before assistant John Carver backed up his colleague and acted as peacemaker.
Pardew revealed on Friday that Brunt had seen him this week to apologise over his 'outburst' and insisted such fierce dialogue was a positive indication the team are determined to pull off a miraculous escape from relegation.
But it is believed that Pardew, who plans changes at Watford on Saturday, faces a difficult task in convincing players to buy into his methods. It is thought Pardew's occasionally pointed criticism of younger players has gone down badly with some seasoned professionals.
West Brom owner Guochuan Lai and chief executive Mark Jenkins held a review of Pardew's position following the Huddersfield result and another defeat will in all likelihood see the 56-year-old dismissed.
Pardew still believes West Brom, seven points from safety, can secure survival and attempted to draw a line under the dressing room episode.
