I'm 70% with Brunt on this one because Alan Pardew deserved a rollicking for his inept, naive tactics which he seemingly won't change from.
However, the other 30% that I'm not is because of the way he seemingly did it. It's ok doing it during a heated discussion/debate but to confront Alan Pardew, his manager, in front of the other players and members of the coaching staff in the way that he seemingly did is undermining Alan Pardew's authority and that isn't good whichever way you spin it. Whatever you think of Alan Pardew and his recent massive blunders, he is Brunt's boss and there is a proper way of going about getting your point across. Confrontation in front of other people is not it.
