What a great day yesterday turned out to be.
Went into Brum with my fellow out of townies for a few scoops in the Joint Stock what a boozer, £5.40 a pint of Amstel that must pay for the ceramics and drapes all around you - beats spoons mind, £60 later we all trained it up from Snow Hill, 5 mins walk Millwall esque channelled left out of the station and up a walkway where the coaches had tipped out straight to the away turnstiles.
Another sold out following, loud, well oiled in parts but everyone stuck with the team throughout a scrappy and nervy first 45, the bright spark was Pritchards shot that Mounie superbly headed clear off the line.
VLP falling over and diving feigning injury - his usual tricks lets say with this Dog Head connections out on that right flank getting to the homies.
Where did they get the idea for those clappers from ?? Without that their fans were really p1ss poor throughout as they had been at ours more interested in getting Pulis out that day than cheering their team on, Pardew looks set for much of the same if he survives this weekend. I like the stadium good view from the away and high stands been developed well since my first visit early 90s in what was a huge standing terrace.
2nd half we took advantage of their poor play & lack of confidence and took a 2 goal lead that had the whole end boucing. Nice that we're now hurting teams for their inabilities and it's not our failings like so many away fixtures this term, perhaps finding rythmn at the right time.
Lossl nowhere for their goal and 10 minutes later a re-run sailed over, then he pulls off a great tip over from McLeans free kick.
Hogg and Williams really took hold of that game 2nd half they were everywhere, Kongolo some vital blocks, no way back for Malone or Lowe whilst he's with us, Flo just gets better and more confident, Smudger replaced him and shored it up . A real team effort to manage the lead and take 3 vital points, I would have taken a point before ko but results elsewhere showed how crucial it is to take the lot when the opportunity arises.
We are hitting form, probably only without Mooy, our best starting 11 but great that LDP and Ince have to up their game to challenge for a start.
Celebrations superb after, lots of Baggies stayed to watch and wish if only, a few we spoke to on a very quiet train back into the city thought we had enough to escape the drop, that we had sufficient fight in us and a bit of quality, always liked Albion lot really very realistic unlike the even ' Massiver than Wendy' Villa and the morons at St Andrews . I certainly wasnt feeeling this optimistic after Stoke.
A bit of indoor training this week to avoid whats about to tip out of the sky while Spurs have to play Wednesday v Dale. We need to keep the score sensible next Saturday not to damage the goal difference now we are ahead of Stoke on points at least.
