We have attempted to "buy" promotion for a couple of years but a combination of poor signings and injuries have left us without achieving that goal, we now need to stabilise the club and the team and let Jos decide what he needs to push us on, but the reality might be that promotion is put off for a couple of years. Chansiri I think has realised this, maybe six months too late but at least he is making changes to get us going forward again. The new CEO has a poor reputation because of what happened at Charlton but her remit there was to get the club intro a position where it could sustain itself, something we need to do but without the turmoil within the club that they had nor are we a team that was essentially punching above its weight like they were. We are a top 30 team in the country, but we only have the 8th or so biggest revenue in the Championship and that is not going to change anytime soon. It took Brighton 5 years to go up, Derby who are similar in what they have done to us are still trying, although they look good this season, we need to have some patience now and let Jos get on with developing the team.

So the cup does matter because FFP tells us we have to take the cup games a bit more seriously then we have for a few years!! The revenue for getting to say a quarter final could be the difference between getting a player in or not, we need revenue!!
