With the league treating us as badly as it ever has, Albion go in search of that elusive, long-awaited win this weekend in the FA Cup down in Devon. Of course, there's no guarantee that we'll be turning the corner even now; if Exeter, hovering around the playoffs in League Two, want to pull off a cup upset this year then they won't have a finer chance. Albion are absolutely on the floor after a knockout blow at West Ham on Tuesday, and our cup performances in general have been awful for years on end.
Still, if nothing else, this match should give Pardew half a chance to assess some of the peripheral players like Leko in action, and may give him some much-needed inspiration. We can only hope.
For Albion fans of a certain age, this fixture inevitably brings back memories of a cold Devon night twenty-five years ago, when Exeter fans with their team 2-0 up elected to taunt the travelling Baggies with chants of "You're not famous anymore". Cue one of the great Albion comebacks of all time.
