The use of 'growing lamps' was one technique that 'came to mind'. I'm an avid gardener and I reckon that there are techniques that can be used to overcome some of the probs but 'skimping footie clubs' will not use them - there are a lotta them in Scotland btw! I also 'don't buy' the argument that the shit condition of a footie pitch is the same for both teams - it is a 'lottery', pure n simple, and some form of min standard should be set esp when these games are attracting a decent attendance in a so called 'top league match'. Throw in some biased or extremely incompetent ref officials and you have a 'lethal cocktail' to affect a footie match very badly!!! In fact, I'd go further and ask, 'Are we really that serious re our footie up here when one considers issues like this one'??? I don't think so in a league where Celtic are 'light years' away from any other serious challenge to their monopoly and, as Jim has just mentioned, look at the quality of some of these Scottish matches - some of the antics on the pitch remind me of frenetic scenes in schools' matches but in these games I'm watching kids learning how to play footie!!! Pro footie players have no excuse!!
