Unfortunately I can no longer get to games at the shrine due to rickety old legs that need to rest every few yards or so but, I feel for you guys that do go.
I can only watch from afar and heaven knows that's painful enough.
Those, like myself, supporters for over 50 years, can only look back and reminisce about the greats of days gone by and some of the matches that we saw when Albion played the sort of exciting football that is no longer available or, as it seems by present management, permitted.
I don't often watch MOTD now but, the other week I saw a brilliant performance by Man City who played flowing football that simply blew the other team away.
Oh where oh where are the players of the calibre of Regis, Astle, Bomber, Hope, Cantello, Hartford, Wile or Statham and many many more.
No wonder us old fogies prefer to live in the past but, remember, to paraphrase a saying on one of my "Old Guys Rule" Tshirts:-
THE OLDER I GET, THE BETTER IT WAS!
