What does annoy me isn't the fact Pulis gets stick - it's that he clearly gets extra stick just because of the Stoke stigma. Although results wise, he did a sterling job with Stoke.

If fans are really so interested in good football, why didn't they notice Hodgson and Irvine were serving up dross? In fact, if we remember back further than the last few games, Pulis has served up some decent football at home. 3-0 win over Chelsea in 2015 is the one which really springs to mind, but there's been others too - 4 against West Ham and Burnley last year.

Now don't get me wrong, I admit the football is terrible at the moment and needs to improve. But, with the exception of the Brighton game, which was an absolute shambles, we've been in every game this season. To be honest, we deserve more points than we've picked up.

Many of us have short memories and have clearly forgotten the battles against relegation just a few years ago under Clarke, Irvine and Mel. As for Mel being better, I can only assume this comment is based on forgetting results under Mel. Because looking back, the results were terrible under him - winning 3 from 17. During that spell, we lost to the Vile, were beaten at home by Stoke, drew at home to Fulham and were beaten comprehensively by Hull and Sunderland.

I'm not saying Pulis is the messiah, far from it, just that we've had a lot worse. And we could get a lot worse again.

Now don't get me wrong, in the summer if we had sacked Pulis and got Silva in, who proved himself at this level with Hull, I would've been happy. But I don't see anyone in that mould available. Most have either only managed top clubs (Ancelloti, Blanc) or are failed Premiership managers who played just as boring stuff as Pulis (Guidolin, Puel).

Obviously it's all ridiculous debate at this point, because there's no chance of Pulis getting sacked unless we have a run of poor results and drop into the relegation zone. But, if it did happen, theoretically, i'd be interested to see if anyone can think of an available manager who has a proven track record of playing decent football and keeping a side up comfortably in the Premier League.  Because I can't really think of many...

I'd be very surprised if any club in England touch Laudrup as it's widely known there was some shady goings on with him at Swansea. I'd heard all about this from my friend who works in the game before they even sacked him.
