Like most on here, I voted for TP to go. It's nothing personal as I think he's an engaging and decent fella but I just think his type of football is killing our club and, as he's made a career of playing with this particular philosophy of football, he's not going to change now. I was driving back to Scotland yesterday and by Tebay we were two up but they'd pulled a goal back by Carlisle. Listening to Pat Murphy's reports on Radio 5, it then clearly became a typical Pulis performance with the expected end. The equaliser duly went in just before I got to Peebles. There was such a depressing inevitability about it that so, after bashing the steering wheel in frustration with an oath or two, I just resorted to a resigned laugh. Pele called this the beautiful game but, under Pulis, it has become joyless.
I know the older members of us (or maybe just me) sound like curmudgeonly old farts with what may seem like a deluded view of the past but it hasn't always been like and it doesn't have to be in the future. I also appreciate that the game has changed out of all recognition since 1962 when I started supporting the Baggies, that it's not comparing apples with apples. However, I don't accept the obsession that we must keep Pulis or we'll be relegated, that our only rationale is staying in the PL. Going to a game is meant to a pleasurable experience, one that is no longer cheap; how is watching the Albion a pleasure? If all that matters is the result and staying in the PL, save your money and catch Sports Report at 5pm.
I apologise if what I'm about to say seems heresy but I'll bet you Wolves fans are having more pleasure watching their team than we are watching ours;our only come back is "we are Premier League" but, so what. They'll leave the ground at 4.50 smiling whilst we leave at 4.50 grim faced. If that's the outcome it life in the PL under Pulis, for me it's not worth having.
