Fantastic first day from a Pears perspective at Wantage Road. Northants fail to pick up any batting points, and at 80-5 Notts may not be snaffling up too many bonuses either. An eight-point draw would be the ideal result from here (though unlikely unless weather intervenes). Nevertheless, if Northants fail to win then Worcestershire will be promoted.
