On a momentous day for the club can we spare a thought for these two wonderful players for us? Most fans picking our first eleven today, would probably overlook these guys after the recent transfer activity.
Did anyone else notice that these two patted the club badge as the came down the steps prior to taking the field on Sunday? Here are two men who now empathise with the club and are still giving back after all these years.
In these days of ridiculous salaries we all crave loyalty from the men who wear the shirt and we are so often disappointed - Odemwingie, Berahino and Isaiah Brown, to name a few. Brunt and Morrison have lived through much of our PL history experiencing the joy of promotion and the bitterness of relegation, yet never wavering in their loyalty for our beloved club. They have adapted to the more atrractive football under Hodgson and Mowbray and yet still had a part to play in the more attritional style under Pulis. No matter how many managers we have had these two have alaways been rated and played.
Both of them are still fine players. I particularly liked some of interplay between Brunt and Barry on Sunday. Brunt still has a beautiful left foot and Morrison, the scorer of some memorable goals.
If today marks the passing for the automatic inclusion of these lads in the first team mix, I hope, if we are lucky enough to have a cup run they play a big part and their years of loyalty are rewarded with a trophy.
