It is disappointing, because when a young player comes through who looks the part, you want to see him out there. Especially because Leko is a direct, attacking player.
The problem with the Premier League is that it's difficult to give young players opportunity, because of the huge money involved. Leko has looked excellent at times, but also shown signs of naivety - like when he was dispossessed dribbling in an important position against Palace at home last year, and they went on to score and make it 2-0.
Sending him out on loan will give him to learn the trade in a (slightly) less pressured environment where mistakes aren't often as fatal. If he excels there, it can only be good for us. Likewise, if he turns out to be a flash in the pan, we haven't taken any risks finding out.
So I guess there is a method to it, although it's understandably disappointing.
