With Jesus playing for Man City it seems religion and football are intrinsically linked.
Last week I was walking across the Proact car park and came across 3 Chesterfield players sat around a small table playing cards. Thinking about the old song Pack of Cards and its religious tone I enquired if they were having a bible lesson. "Piss off son" came the reply "come here and we'll tell you a story"
The ace or 1 represents the lone figure in black, the centre of all attention. No matter how many in a stadium he is always the loneliest man there.
the 2 represents his 2 assistants who don't get quite as much abuse but are not far behind. It also represents the 2hats that run our football club.
The 3 represents the 3 stooges, the directors who stood by whilst lots of money was spirited away and then were forced to resign and only given their money back if they signed to say they wouldn't cause any trouble.
The 4 represents the number of players we should play across the back but some seem so blind as to not see.
The 5 represents our managers preferred midfield formation that seems to get spirited away during most games
The number 6 is a strange number, write it down 3 times and you get 666 - the sign of Satan and the winged figure who rules the roost from behind his smoked glass chamber in the west stand. Very often seen with a pigeon on each shoulder.
The 7 represents the best Chesterfield performance of the last 2 years when we put 7 past a hapless Shrewsbury side.
The 8 represents the number of seasons since the dark lord took over our beloved club and blessed us all with good fortune and happy times
The 9 used to represent a centre forward. Its been many years now since anybody worthy of it wore that number and gave us something to cheer about.
10 is the number of players Chesterfield seem to end any game with
The Jack is the fans favourite the one and only Jack Lester
The queen represents our Ashley and his habit of bending over the boardroom table whilst being shafted by the Creature from Beyond
The king is the indisputable ruler of all his kingdom. Shafter of all men, reaper of fine rewards, Satan incarnate. Don't say too much or else you can expect a visit from the heavies.
