It seems to me that all this transfer business is rather akin to buying a house with a long chain of buyers and sellers.
Reading the Telegraph article they say of selling Wimmer "His departure suggests that Spurs could be making progress in their attempts to sign Davinson Sanchez from Ajax"
Simply put, other clubs have to either sell or obtain a replacement before the business can be completed and that goes down the chain line. My guess is that in many cases there is this 'chain' that is longer than we imagine. Perhaps this doesn't apply to the mega-rich clubs with huge squads but does so with clubs similar in size to our own.
Any road up, it seems our people are working and hopefully we will have secured the quality and quantity we want and need within the next 14 days when the window is slammed shut.
