GC is a strange combination of Walter Mitty - embracing and discarding tactical formations as the wind changes - and an unimaginative Mick-McCarthyesque-centre-back who at the first sign of trouble ditches the young lad/s and starts trying to dig his way out of the trench he has spent all week in training digging for his team.
Why would anyone sign player/s for positions we already had covered and not sign any players capable of reinforcing areas that even a novice could see were stretched? What on earth is he thinking? I can only judge GC by results because I can't even guess what he is thinking. What he's doing might actually work, because for all I know he may be applying String Theory to football. What kind of neural pathway sees a blank team sheet and starts writing ANYON, WISEMAN, HIRD, EVATT .... for chrissakes?
Hopefully Wednesday will play George Hirst up front with just one of their many more experienced choices. At least that should guarantee us an interesting thrashing.
I genuinely fear for us and not only against The Owls. It is not that we haven't got players who can play. It's that even when we get a team that works, as in the friendly against Donny, we clearly don't know why and how it worked.
I really do hold a Masters Degree called The Analysis of Decision Processes and I can make no decent analysis of what is going on at Chesterfield. There's a Ph.D or even a book to be written. Self-help books are popular; I don't know about self-harm.
