Personally I'm glad we aren't wasting money left, right and centre. A big transfer fee doesn't guarantee the player is going to perform.
Camacho wise I think he may just not have fancied the hussle and bussle of English football - Borja Valero never really clicked for us during his stint and then went on to be capped for Spain, whilst playing for Villareal and then Fiorentina so can't be that bad a player! Just wasn't suited to the football over here.
I think we're being as a fan base in general a little bit more pessimistic than we should be to be honest, and it's grinding me down. We obviously need players in but we need to be mindful of how good the current crop are imo. The few I'd single out for the most praise are:
Ben Foster - Absolute class, very lucky he's with us and a relatively local lad clearly happy to stick with us.
Jonny Evans - Bewildering that he was allowed to leave Man U in the first place. Will do well to keep him.
Jake Livermore - Hugely underated and isn't in the England side regularly of late for no reason.
Matty Phillips - During the first half of last season statistically one of the most potent forwards in Europe, sadly injury ended his season earlier than we'd of liked!
Gareth McAuley - Best free transfer since Bosman's began in my opinion. Magnificent player
And not to forger the rest of the squad as I think the likes of Morrison and Brunt etc have been great servants to the club and still offer us something.
Sorry this is a little off topic - just a perspective on the transfer scenario at the minute from me! Personally I think windows need to be scrapped as it adds nothing to the game, what's the point of them??
