Not saying he is a miss and should be with us but......
I think after the Rodriguez deal, we're probably done on the striker front unless Rondon goes (which will probably happen on deadline day).
Never seen Mounie play, but younger and cheaper than Rodriguez without the injury record. Really hope we haven't made a ridiculous decision here, especially as I can see Rondon going last minute and us needing everyone fit like last season.
Jeez Slick, I hope we're not done on the striker front. Even his most ardent fan would not say Rondon is the finished article. Personally I think Robson-Kanu is not much better than League I standard and even assuming you can get a full season from Rodriguez, he is more of an attacking midfielder.
I want and would expect at least one more striker.
If it were not for the goals coming from defenders in particular we would have been in trouble last season.
Oh, you don't have to tell me. I'm in full agreement.
I have visions of Rodriguez being either on the treatment table all season or sh*t (honestly thought he'd lost all his pace when I saw him last season).
So I agree we need 4 strikers. But I'm telling you what I think will happen. I have zero faith in our board. I don't think they will sign another striker.
This is, after all, the same board who left us with only Rondon and HRK for half a season last year. In their mind, we already have an extra body in that department. We're in the same position, squad wise, with what was deemed good enough at the start of last season.
We need a centre half (or 2), a left back, a midfielder and another striker. But will this board really sanction 5 more signings after already spending £12m?
So I agree, i'd want another striker too, but I don't share your expectation and optimism.
In fact, being the complete pessimist, I think they will sell Rondon on deadline day and not replace him. They did this with Saido in January, a leopard doesn't change his spots.
I hope I'm all wrong though.
