With at least ten defenders I don't think we need to worry about defensive positions. McGinn or Binnom-Williams could probably do a job there in an emergency.
Worry instead about a manager who tells us his commitment is to a passing game and has signed only defenders and attackers. If we're going to keep possession who's going in the black hole? Doctor Who, Professor Hawking, Captain Kirk. Star Trek, there's an idea! Maybe we can sign Patrick Stewart from Huddersfield ........ we can't afford their players but we might just grab a supporter.
At least the youth policy is working in Derbyshire. A 16 year-old former Afghan wins us a cricket match for the first time since Venkatraghavan retired. And the new UK women's 100 metres hurdles champion is a 19 year old from Chesterfield called Alicia Barratt. So maybe we don't need to scour the universe, maybe Joe Rowley and Charlie Wakefield will run the legs off every midfield and feed Ricky German terrorising unsuspecting defences.
