Pulis is shite at getting the right players and then when he has them he doesn't play em. We were linked with Iheanacho but now looks like Leicester will be taking him. It's the same every window since Pulis has been here. Frustrating and Embarrassing. This is just my opinion but I wish he'd just go.
There are managers out there who would attract better players, look at Palace. Frank De Boer, a big name who will attract big names. No one wants to come to Albion to play for Pulis. Hope I am so very wrong.
I don't want to sound like a die hard Pulis fan, because I'm not, but I believe in 'balanced' posts and it seems like some fans will use every opportunity to dig at him. I appreciate his football is pretty drab, but it's improved significantly from the dross he inherited which looked nailed on for relegation. We progressed under him nicely last season IMO and at times, football was decent at home.
As for the windows, do you really believe they are worse under him? For me, they've been slow in every year we were in the Prem. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been sat on forums on deadline days waiting for something to happen and we've just signed some cheap, unproven unknown to appease the fans.
Pulus signed numerous top names at Stoke - Michael Owen, Peter Crouch, Eidur Gudjohnsen, Johnathan Woodgate, Matt Upson, Charlie Adam and Tuncay - just to name a few. So he's hardly a turn off for big names. In fact, in Chadli, Fletcher and Evans are 3 of the very few 'proven' Premier players we have attracted in recent years.
Regarding Gnabry, I guess it's egg on your face for Pulis and Wenger if he comes good at Bayern.
That said, can we blame Pulis for not playing him? On the few occasions he was selected he didn't look the part. I remember watching him in the cup against Port Vale and he played a shocker. The Premier League is cut throat and it's hard for clubs in the lower reaches to give players time. They get that in Spain and Germany because the sides at the bottom aren't quite as competitive.
I do not believe Charlie Taylor had the choice of playing for Pulis or Dyche and decided to go to Burnley because their football is so much better. After all, despite our stigma, we remain a bigger pull than them. Livermore gaining international exposure shows we are no longer considered a bottom basement side. The reality is, we probably don't think he's worth the cash. He only played 25 times for a mid table Championship side last year anyway, so that could well be the case.
I'm pretty annoyed with the lack of action in the window so far, but if it is a complete joke, I'll blame the board and not Pulis. Pulis will get the blame if he's backed and signs dross. But so far, with the exception of McManaman, he has a decent transfer record IMO.
Slick I don't use every opportunity to have a go at Pulis. My views have been 70/30 for him to Jog on. I have praised him many times and am always ready to eat humble pie BUT I really don't like him or his brand of Football. Although we finished 10th we now suffer the same horrible Stigma of how Stoke were perceived and I hate that. The common denominator is Pulis.
Both my kids are season ticket holders and my daughter thinks he's great as does my Missus. My 16 yr old son really dislikes him as do I. Could it be that we know more about football than they do?
Hope my missus doesn't read this as I'll be Barron for a month
