A few from the Eighties:
Martin Dickinson, a centre-half who came in from Leeds at the tail-end of our relegation from the First Division and continued to be a first-choice defender for a season or two in the Second, before going to Sheffield United.
Paul Dyson, his partner in crime, who spent years at Coventry and Stoke before us and was on his way down the leagues, going on to Darlington and Crewe after us.
Wayne Dobbins, Bromsgrove lad who joined as an apprentice in 1984, turned professional in '86 and spent about five seasons filling in as a midfielder and right-back before moving on to Torquay and Yeovil.
And finally Robbie Dennison, a young Northern Irish winger who we bought off Glenavon in 1985 and kept on the sidelines for a year or two. No idea what happened to him after that. He must have dropped off the face of the earth

"I would rather spend a holiday in Tuscany than in the Black Country, but if I were compelled to choose between living in West Bromwich or Florence, I should make straight for West Bromwich." - J.B. Priestley
