I remember getting picked for our school cricket First XI for the first time in about 1971, and the cricket 'master ' (as we called him) had arranged ONE Saturday game in the whole season - on FA Cup Final day. He said he couldn't make me play but if I didn't, he'd never pick me again.
I loved cricket but watching the final live was, as you say, a real must so I said no.
That was the end of my school cricket career!
Probably won't even bother to watch any highlights today.....
Nice one, Drewks!
Reminded me I got chosen for a Greater B'ham Rugby trial at KES Camp Hill, but we were playing Everton that night, so I just "forgot" to turn up for his lift. I got a Detention and The Rugby 'Master' never picked me again all next season. (He was an Albion supporter as well, and he knew where I was that night!)

Start every day off with a smile and get it over with
