Please, please let that be the end of the Hodgson-style 4-4-2 at home. It's predictable, and it leads inevitably to performances like today. We could have played all night and not scored. Awful, awful, awful.
I find myself once again thinking that Varela can't get fit soon enough, but I'm also well aware that hoping for salvation from a player who hasn't even appeared in a league match yet is a worrying indictment of the players we do have available.
So the pressure's once again on going into a difficult run of games. The last time we were this dire was against Everton, and to his credit, Irvine was then able to conjure up a response. We need another response, Alan. We need a big one.
