Goal Fest at the Proact

Though I liked Danny I was also critical of some of the the things he was doing. But the major reason for not ditching him was precisely what has happened. If the new man doesn't get the normal kick-start of a couple of wins, you are left with a manager finding out about his club and his players at a time when you need sound, confident decision-making ...... he comes under pressure and the result is that he does worse than the man he replaced.

I don't know how good Mr Caldwell will be or could be in the long-term, but what has happened to him in the last ten games isn't going to make it easier.

There are a lot of decisions for someone to make for next season. Look at goalkeeping for instance. Do we need two new keepers because Tommy's had it and the manager doesn't rate Allinson, just one new one, or would Tommy and Allinson do perfectly well? Then which of this current mob is worth keeping? Who do we give games to now to see what we have? Where do we recruit? Shouldn't that process already have started if we want to get good cheap deals?

Someone like SEB is a real conundrum. He WAS a real player for Plymouth and Wolves, but it was based on true talent rather than work ethic. Now as years of failure are about to spill him out into non-league obscurity he suddenly displays effort and form. With Ched injured there's a case for playing him IF the points mattered. It takes a lot of courage to say sorry mate, you left it too late, we paid you big money and you gave us very little, we're not about to turn our last few games in this division into your shop window. And surely we wouldn't consider renewing his contract even if he was MOM for the rest of the season, would we?

Staying or going Mr Caldwell has a difficult job all over the field and throughout a dysfunctional club. If he's staying then, like Spirematt, I think his number one question should be where is next season's team coming from? And for me that should have more impact on Saturday's team selection than dreaming that playing three at the  back might turn him into the Division One Antonio Conte.

I'm sorry Pooch but it seems to me that if Kakay and SEB were our successes against Peterborough then the four times they hit the woodwork might as well have been goals for all the impact the game has on our future.

I think we should keep Allinson and Tommy but it would not surprise me if Caldwell lets Tommy go and that would really piss the fans off big time.

So far the signings that Caldwell has made don't fill me with confidence but I guess we have to wait and see what happens.
